CAF: Samuel Eto'o's powerful statements after his election to the COMEX

During an interview with TV5 Monde, Samuel Eto'o reacted following his election to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

After a very tough battle with CAF that lasted months, Samuel Eto'o finally prevailed and joined the Executive Committee of the governing body of African football. He indeed represents the Central African Football Federations' Union (UNIFFAC) within CAF. A role he will play alongside his position as president of FECAFOOT.

"It's a childhood dream. I always wanted to serve football and I did it as a player on the pitches and then I entered football administration. I think for any leader, the ambition is to serve at the CAF level. I thank all my peers who trusted me. I enjoy my victories much more because they are achieved at the cost of great sacrifices. Generally, when I have an idea that I find good for the majority (...) it means you are on the right path and I go for it," he stated to TV5 Monde before continuing:

I am not elected as CAF president but as a member of the executive committee led by President Motsepe. What is certain is that, through his vision, I will always be ready to provide some solutions. Like me, there are many other football enthusiasts who want to see Africa at this level and I am convinced that together under President Motsepe's leadership, we will move African football forward.
