Cameroon: Thomas Libiih returns to the U-17 Indomitable Lions coaching seat

The Cameroonian Football Federation continues its sweeping overhaul at the helm of the national teams. The U-17 squad gets a new manager, with Thomas Libiih appointed on June 13.

Thomas Libiih makes a powerful return to the U-17 Indomitable Lions dugout. He is renowned for leading Cameroon to continental glory in 2019 and guiding the team to the U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

The 58-year-old coach succeeds Saidou Alioum, who was dismissed after the 1-0 quarterfinal defeat to Morocco at the recent Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

Despite the early exit, Saidou Alioum did manage to secure Cameroon's qualification for the U-17 World Cup – Qatar 2026. That is now the immediate and major challenge for veteran coach Thomas Libiih. The young Lions will compete in Group K alongside Romania, Venezuela, and Mexico.
