Camp Nou: major tragedy strikes FC Barcelona
A tragedy has unfolded in recent hours at the Camp Nou renovation site.
A 54-year-old construction worker lost his life while working on the future home of FC Barcelona. According to initial reports relayed by AFP, the man was struck by a piece of construction machinery. Despite the swift intervention of emergency services, he could not be revived. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
This tragedy comes amid ongoing controversy at the construction site in recent months. Last November, a company working on the project was fined for employing undocumented workers, and in 2024, a violent altercation between several workers left six injured. The Camp Nou renovation is scheduled for completion in 2028, with the new stadium set to accommodate 105,000 spectators.
