CAN 2025: Rogers Mato signs with Heart of Midlothian

Ugandan winger Rogers Mato, 22, is leaving FK Vardar in North Macedonia to join Heart of Midlothian this July. He has signed a three-year contract.

Mato has been a standout performer in Europe over the past two seasons, netting 21 goals in 33 matches, and he also found the back of the net for Uganda at CAN 2025. A product of Proline FC in Kampala, he played in Turkey before moving to Macedonia. This summer, he will bolster the Hearts’ attack—who have been closely monitoring his progress for quite some time.
