CAN 2027 qualifiers: Claude Leroy calls up 26 local players for Brazzaville training camp
Congo is already gearing up for action.
The Congolese Football Federation revealed a list of 28 players on August 21. For the upcoming gathering of the senior Red Devils A squad, Claude Leroy has opted to rely mainly on the domestic league.
From August 23 to 28, 2026, 26 players will meet in Brazzaville for an observation and evaluation camp. The goal is clear: to identify talents capable of joining the squad for the CAN 2027 qualifiers. They will later be joined by internationals playing abroad.
CARA stands tall
This gathering in the capital offers a showcase for the country's clubs. CARA stands out with strong representation across all positions. They're joined by other league stalwarts like JST, AS Otohô, V. Club, Cheminots, and Diables Noirs. In total, the coach has named 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders, and 7 forwards.
Congo's schedule already set
Timing is crucial. Starting in September, Congo will play the first two matchdays of the qualifiers. The Red Devils are drawn in Group G alongside Cameroon, Comoros, and Namibia. On the agenda: an away game in Namibia followed by hosting Cameroon. For many local players, this camp is a major opportunity to make an impression and break into the senior national team.
