CAN 2027 qualifiers: Guinea announces great news

On the evening of Saturday, August 15, the Guinean Football Federation (Feguifoot) delivered some "excellent news" to supporters ahead of the qualifiers for the AFCON 2027.

In an official statement, Feguifoot announced this Saturday that the September 28 Stadium in Conakry has been provisionally approved by the Confederation of African Football, with CAF's letter to back the decision. After being closed to official matches for five years, the stadium has finally received the all-important green light thanks to ongoing renovation works.

"After nearly five years during which our national teams and clubs were forced to play their home matches away from our territory due to our sports infrastructure not meeting international standards, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to grant the September 28 Stadium a temporary category 3 CAF approval for September 2026." the statement reads.

The Syli National will finally reunite with its fans in the upcoming international window from September 21 to October 6, as the CAN 2027 qualifiers get underway. "CAF would like to clarify, however, that this approval is temporary and for a limited period, as there are still some points that need to be addressed to ensure the stadium fully complies with CAF's applicable requirements," the governing body stated.
