CAN U17: Mali's prodigy on his way to Chelsea!

Once completely unknown, Seydou Dembélé is now emerging as one of the revelations of the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations. At just 17 years old, the Malian midfielder dazzles with his talent and is already catching the eye of prestigious European clubs, notably Chelsea.

Born in Bamako in 2008, Dembélé plays for FC Guidars, a partner of the renowned Jean-Marc Guillou (JMG) academy.

Wearing the U17 Eagles jersey, the young prodigy is delivering standout performances in Morocco, where Mali qualified for the quarter-finals.

Twice named man of the match against Angola and Central Africa, Seydou Dembélé notably scored his first goal against Côte d'Ivoire, confirming his decisive impact on the game.

Seydou Dembélé, the "Malian Messi"!

His silky technique, exceptional vision, and ability to break lines are reminiscent of a certain Lionel Messi, hence his flattering nickname of "Malian Messi".

Impressed, Chelsea scouts have reportedly already made a tempting offer of €1.6 million, according to Africafoot.

However, the Blues will have to face competition from RB Salzburg – where Dembélé has already had a trial – and Barça, who have been following the Malian prodigy since 2023. The saga is just beginning…
