CAN U20: 'It's a tough group like the first one,' says Saliou Dia
This Sunday, April 13, the CAF conducted a new draw for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations Egypt 2025. Senegal is now placed in Group C alongside the Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Ghana. In a recent interview with the local press, the coach of the Young Lions of Teranga reacted to this new group composition.
'When you prepare, it's about your strengths, your weaknesses, but especially about the difficulties you'll face. Their position, their style of play, the players' profiles. Now, we'll have to adjust again. Another phase of work begins. I admit it's a tough group like the first one. I think we're going to the Africa Cup where we'll face the best African countries that have qualified. So, it's always competitive. We need to rely a bit on ourselves, on our strengths, on what we're used to doing. I think we're in that dynamic,' said coach Serigne Saliou Dia.
Senegal is the reigning champion of the CAN U20 and aims to defend its title in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025, seeking a second consecutive triumph. To achieve this, the Young Lions will need to effectively navigate the group stage to continue their quest.
