Liverpool suffered disappointing 2 - 1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao cup final at Wembley, failing to defend their title. Mohamed Salah who's been key figure in the Premier League, struggled to make impact in the final, failing to register shot on target or create any major chances.

Carragher’s Take on Liverpool’s Loss

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher analyzed the defeat, stating that Newcastle dominated the game from start to finish. Speaking to Sky Sports, He said:

“Newcastle didn’t just win, they completely crushed Liverpool. I mean that in every sense”

Carragher admitted that it wasn’t just about Liverpool underperforming, but rather Newcastle’s superiority on the night.

Salah’s Struggles Without Arnold

Carragher pointed to the absence of right back Trent Alexander Arnold as key reason behind Salah’s quiet performance.

“Liverpool may have stronger one on one defender but they'll miss Arnold’s passing ability which directly impacts Salah” He explained.

Salah’s Big Game Concerns

Despite his record breaking performances in the Premier League, Salah continues to struggle in major finals. According to ESPN, he's scored only two goals in 11 final for Liverpool, both from penalties and has yet to score from open play in title deciding match.
