Champions League: Ademola Lookman delivers in a second consecutive match
Ademola Lookman provided an assist in Atlético de Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Stuttgart on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in the Champions League. Coming on at half-time, the Nigerian forward set up Julián Álvarez in the 47th minute to help the Madrid side get back on level terms.
Atlético de Madrid avoided defeat in Germany thanks to Ademola Lookman’s introduction. Trailing from the 36th minute after Jamie Leweling’s goal, Los Colchoneros quickly responded after the break. On an attack down the left, the Nigerian international delivered a cutback to Julián Álvarez, who equalised with a left-footed shot.
This assist means Lookman has now contributed decisively in two consecutive Champions League matches. On October 13, he had already scored in Atlético’s 2-0 win over Manchester United. He now has one goal in this edition of the competition, in addition to his assist against Stuttgart.
A still mixed record this season
In the Spanish league, the Nigerian forward’s record has been more modest. Before this European fixture, he had scored once in seven La Liga appearances, without providing an assist. These figures reflect a start to the season in which Lookman is still seeking to establish himself consistently in Diego Simeone’s system.
Against Stuttgart, however, his introduction had an immediate impact. In less than two minutes, he was involved in the move that brought the two teams level. Atlético then had to defend that result after Morten Hjulmand was sent off in the 64th minute.
With a goal against Manchester United and an assist against Stuttgart, Lookman has made an attacking contribution in Atlético’s last two European outings. His next appearances will show whether he can sustain this momentum in the Champions League.
