Champions League: major security measures in place for OL vs Fenerbahçe second-leg playoff

Tomorrow, OL and Fenerbahçe will meet again for the second leg of the Champions League playoff. In this context, security measures have been stepped up.

The second-leg clash between OL and Fenerbahçe in the Champions League playoffs is scheduled for this Wednesday. The match, set to take place at Groupama Stadium, has been rated level 4 out of 5 for risk by the National Division for the Fight Against Hooliganism. In response, the Rhône prefecture has decided to implement a significant security operation and strictly supervise the presence of Turkish supporters, with 2,200 Fenerbahçe fans expected—including 200 VIPs—according to Le Progrès.

A prefectural order will therefore be in effect from 8 a.m. to midnight around the stadium. Supporters of the Istanbul club will be required to go through a designated meeting point at Eurexpo and must have a ticket to access the Groupama Stadium and its surrounding areas. The transport and use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices will also be strictly prohibited in the area.

Mobile police units will be deployed to enforce these measures. Anyone violating the rules will face criminal penalties.
