Chelsea are interested in Abdukodir Khusanov, who is currently under contract with Manchester City. According to information from CaughtOffside, Blues manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly particularly attracted to the Uzbek defender’s profile.

Xabi Alonso appreciates Khusanov’s versatility

Having joined Manchester City in January 2025 from RC Lens for around €40 million, Abdukodir Khusanov has gradually become part of the English club’s rotation. At 22, the defender can play both centrally and at right-back.

A versatility that has reportedly caught Xabi Alonso’s attention, with the coach also impressed by the player’s athletic qualities, particularly his speed. Khusanov has regularly been used by Manchester City since his arrival, although he remained on the bench for the last two league matches.

Manchester City could listen to offers

Despite having a contract running until 2031, Abdukodir Khusanov is reportedly considered potentially available in the event of an offer deemed sufficient. Chelsea could therefore try to take advantage of the situation to bring the Uzbek defender to Stamford Bridge.

However, the deal would remain costly given the length of his contract with Manchester City and the investment made by the English club when he arrived. For Xabi Alonso, Khusanov’s profile offers the particular advantage of being able to strengthen several areas of his defence thanks to his ability to play in different positions.
