Chelsea have set a £50 million price tag on striker Liam Delap as part of their summer squad-reduction plans ahead of the new campaign. According to Standard Sport, the Blues are prepared to part ways with the forward just 12 months after triggering his £30 million release clause to bring him in from Ipswich Town.

The player arrived at Chelsea a while ago, but he wasn't a regular starter so it seems he decided to leave Stamford Bridge in order to get more playing time.

English clubs interested in Liam Delap

Chelsea's FA Cup final loss to Manchester City and their failure to secure a European berth capped off a disappointing season for the club, during which Delap managed just two goals in his debut year at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old has nonetheless caught the attention of several Premier League outfits, with Nottingham Forest and Everton named among his suitors.

Xabi Alonso will not rely on Liam Delap

Press reports indicate that Leah Delap failed to convince Xabi Alonso, the new manager, to be the starting striker for Chelsea, and he and several other players are expected to leave the team before the summer transfer window closes in September.

Chelsea are planning a summer clear-out of their striking options, with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu attracting attention from clubs seeking either loan deals or permanent transfers. As for Delap, a full exit is anticipated if any suitor can get within touching distance of the Blues' £50 million asking price.
