Chippa United have announced the appointment of Vusumuzi Vilakazi as the club's new head coach after parting ways with Luc Eymael.

The Belgian mentor was appointed at the end of August and oversaw just seven matches in the dugout across all competitions, winning one, drawing two and losing the other four encounters.

Eymael leaves the Chilli Boys rooted at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table after managing to pick up five points out of a possible 18 during his stint.

Now, ‘Kanu’, as the KZN-born mentor is fondly known, is set for a second spell at the Gqeberha-based outfit, having briefly served as a Technical Director from September 2023 to December 2023.

“Chippa United FC confirms a mutual separation with head coach Luc Eymael. We thank him for his professionalism and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” read the club statement.

"We are pleased to welcome back Kanu Vilakazi as the new Head Coach. Familiar with our club's values and ambitions, he is well-placed to lead us forward in the Betway Premiership League.

"To our loyal supporters - thank you for your belief and encouragement. We promise to bounce back as the Chilli Boys.

Meanwhile, Vilakazi will be the fourth coach to be in charge of Chippa in the ongoing 2025/26 campaign after Sinethemba Badela, Musa Nyatama and the recently departed Eymael.
