Colo-Colo: Vozinha set to change his name

A few days ago, Vozinha officially signed with Colo-Colo. This transfer is set to bring a significant change in the Cape Verde goalkeeper's career.

After making a name for himself on the world stage at the 2026 World Cup with his standout performances for Cape Verde, Vozinha is now preparing for a new challenge—one far from his national team. The 40-year-old shot-stopper has convinced Colo-Colo to bet on his experience after the World Cup and will join the Chilean giants as a free agent.

However, upon his arrival, Vozinha may have to temporarily drop the name that made him famous, according to local media. The reason? Chilean league rules require players to use their family name on their jersey, possibly with an initial.

Vozinha's full legal name is Josimar José Évora Dias. As a result, this name could appear on his shirt instead of "Vozinha" during his matches with Colo-Colo. To keep his nickname, the club would need to obtain special permission from the league authorities. The Cape Verdean hero could end up playing with "Évora", "Dias", or "Évora Dias" on the back of his jersey.
