Como: Assane Diao injured, layoff period revealed

A blow for young Senegalese forward Assane Diao. He will be sidelined due to a hamstring muscle injury.

Como announced the bad news on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The announcement follows the player's injury-related departure during the match against Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Champions League. Having scored against the Dutch club on matchday two of Europe's most prestigious competition, Assane Diao was unable to finish the match.

Assane Diao set to miss three weeks

Medical examinations revealed a muscle injury for Assane Diao. The injury is therefore expected to keep the forward out for around three weeks. This period of unavailability comes just a few weeks before the next FIFA international window, scheduled for November 9 to 17, 2026.

During this upcoming international break, Senegal will face Sudan twice, on November 11 and 15, as part of the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The recovery period announced by Como casts doubt on Assane Diao's availability for these two important matches in the race for qualification.
