The Comoros national team clinched a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea on June 9 during a friendly match held at the Marrakech Stadium in Morocco.

The only goal of the match was scored by Youcef Zaïdou from a direct free kick. This marks the first victory for coach Hubert Velud's squad in over six months—their previous win dates back to November 17, 2025, when they swept aside Namibia with a convincing 4-0 result in a friendly. This triumph breathes new life and confidence into the squad.

The June 2026 FIFA window concludes on a positive note. After a string of winless matches, the Coelacanths regain their self-belief ahead of upcoming official fixtures, most notably the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
