Congo Cup: Regional stage to be held behind closed doors
The Congolese Football Association has announced that all regional stage matches of the 60th Congo Cup will be played behind closed doors, according to a statement released on June 23.
According to the statement, this measure aims to maintain public order in the sports sector, ensure the safety of all football stakeholders, and protect both public and private property. The Congolese FA clarified that the decision was made for security reasons.
In recent weeks, several incidents have led to considerable property damage and injuries at local football stadiums.
This means AS Simba from Kolwezi, the defending champions, will have to fight for their title without the support of their fans in the stands.
