Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez is gearing up to rejoin group training after completing an individual session on Saturday morning, amidst ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future just hours before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Training & recovery at Cerro del Espino

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Álvarez trained for the second consecutive day with a club fitness coach. After missing Wednesday and Thursday's sessions due to illness, he remained in Madrid while the rest of the squad traveled to face Sevilla.

Now physically recovering, he is expected to reintegrate with the main group during Sunday's training session.

The Argentine's return to the pitch coincides with the definitive collapse of his highly publicized push to join FC Barcelona. With the transfer window closing on Tuesday night, Álvarez has reluctantly accepted that his dream move to Catalonia is currently impossible to execute.

This standoff highlights the brutal reality of late window player power. Álvarez arguably overplayed his hand by publicly pushing for Barcelona without ensuring the Catalan club had the financial leverage to force Atlético's hand.

By categorically refusing to entertain lucrative Premier League offers, he has essentially cornered himself into staying at the Metropolitano.
