COSAFA U20: South Africa come from behind against Zambia and qualify for the U20 AFCON

After a thrilling semi-final in Maputo, South Africa came from behind to overcome Zambia and secure their place at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

A stunning comeback in Maputo

However, it was Zambia who made the perfect start. Duncan Musialela and Jonathan Kalimina gave Zambia a two-goal lead.

But South Africa did not give up. Powered by a brace from Steven Mendes, followed by goals from Oarabile Booysen and Emile Witbooi, the defending COSAFA U20 champions turned the match around to win 4-2.

Namibia or Mozambique in the final

As holders of the last U20 Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa have confirmed their status and qualified for the next edition. Their opponent in the final is yet to be determined. The second semi-final will pit Namibia against Mozambique. The winner will also qualify for the U20 AFCON and play in the final against Amajita.
