COSAFA U20: South Africa dominate Angola and take control of Group B

South Africa lived up to their status at the COSAFA tournament qualifying for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. The defending champions beat Angola 2-0 in the Group B clash at ABB Stadium in Motola, Mozambique.

South Africa controlled the match and turned their dominance into two goals. Captain Lazola Maku opened the scoring before Steven Mendes sealed the victory for his side. With this win, South Africa, the reigning champions of the region and Africa, confirmed their strong start after beating Lesotho 3-0 on Saturday.

The race for the semi-finals begins

Angola, who had come off a resounding 4-0 victory over Eswatini, suffered their first defeat of the Maputo 2026 tournament. On the third matchday of this tournament qualifying for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa will face Eswatini, while Angola will take on Lesotho.
