The Costa Rican national team officially has a new coach. The federation has entrusted Fernando Batista with the task of revitalizing the squad, signing him on a contract that runs through to the 2030 World Cup.

This decision comes after a disappointing qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup. The goal is to rebuild a competitive team and recapture the level that once allowed Costa Rica to shine in past major tournaments.

Batista arrives with a strong background in youth development and coaching national youth teams. The management hopes he can breathe new life into the project and put the national squad back on track for upcoming international challenges.
