Côte d'Ivoire: Ismaël Doukouré could join the Elephants

Ismaël Doukouré could make his debut for the Ivory Coast national team in the upcoming fixtures. According to journalist Malick Traoré of the Nouvelle Chaîne Ivoirienne, the Strasbourg defender has been called up to replace Odilon Kossounou.

A versatile profile

Aged 22 and with the Racing Club de Strasbourg since 2021, Doukouré can play both in central defence and in midfield. His versatility is an asset for the Elephants, who must cope without Kossounou, who suffered a thigh injury, according to Sport-ivoire.ci.

A first cap in sight

With 120 appearances already in Ligue 1, Doukouré has extensive experience at the highest level. If his call-up is confirmed, it will be his first involvement with Ivory Coast. The player would therefore join the squad for matchdays 1 and 2 of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the friendly match against Cameroon.
