Cristiano Ronaldo: just 19 goals away from 1,000!
At 41, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to rack up records with Al-Nassr and is drawing ever closer to the legendary 1,000-goal mark.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to move towards a figure no one has yet reached in professional football. On Monday evening, the Portuguese forward found the net in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Neftchi Fergana in the AFC Champions League, taking his career tally to 981 goals.
The evening had nevertheless begun in unusual circumstances. Kick-off was delayed by around an hour in Riyadh following a security alert linked to missile fire. Once the match got under way, Al-Nassr quickly took control of proceedings.
A volley to move closer to 1,000
After Ângelo opened the scoring, Ronaldo doubled the lead in the 42nd minute. The move began with Sadio Mané, whose cross found Ayman Yahya. He then laid the ball off to the Portuguese forward, who finished with a powerful volley to beat the opposing goalkeeper.
With this latest goal, CR7 is now just 19 goals away from reaching 1,000 in his career. At 41, he is therefore continuing to extend an already exceptional series of records while remaining a major attacking reference point for his club.
Five goals in nine matches this season
His start to the campaign also confirms that he retains remarkable efficiency. With Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo now has 5 goals in 9 appearances in all competitions since the start of the 2026-2027 season.
This latest goal came in a particular context, just days after the Portuguese Football Federation opened disciplinary proceedings against him and imposed a precautionary suspension. On the pitch, however, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner immediately responded in the way he knows best: by scoring.
Already Portugal’s all-time leading scorer, Ronaldo is now pursuing an objective that should accompany each of his next matches: finally reaching the symbolic milestone of 1,000 career goals.
