Portugal suspends Cristiano Ronaldo!
Cristiano Ronaldo is now the subject of disciplinary proceedings by the FPF after his premature departure from Portugal’s latest camp.
Tensions are rising around Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal national team. After leaving during the camp, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) officially opened disciplinary proceedings against its captain.
According to information disclosed in recent days, the forward allegedly did not accept being benched by Jorge Jesus, followed by being sent to warm up without ultimately coming on. The disagreement then reportedly took on a new dimension, with Ronaldo believing that the coach should apologise, something the latter allegedly has no intention of doing.
Proceedings opened on October 9
In its statement, the FPF said: “Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, by decision of the Non-Professional Section, on October 9, 2026, in order to determine the potential disciplinary relevance of the facts reported on October 7, 2026.”
The governing body added that, without prejudice to the automatic preventive suspension that was in force until the proceedings were opened, a non-automatic preventive suspension had also been imposed. The case is being handled as a matter of urgency.
The sanction will be decided at the end of the investigation
The Portuguese Federation also said that the case was referred, on October 10, 2026, to the FPF Disciplinary Investigation Commission. A publication ban will remain in force until the end of the investigation.
At this stage, no definitive sanction has therefore been imposed against Cristiano Ronaldo. It is only at the end of these proceedings that the governing body will rule on any potential disciplinary consequences of his departure from the camp.
