Croatia: Abdoulie Sanyang gives Hajduk Split the derby win over Dinamo Zagreb
Hajduk Split beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 thanks to the Gambian winger, who scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute at Poljud Stadium.
Abdoulie “Bamba” Sanyang secured the victory for Hajduk Split against Dinamo Zagreb (2-1) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in the ninth round of the Croatian league. In front of his home fans at Poljud Stadium, the Gambian winger scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute.
Dinamo opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Dion Drena Beljo. Hajduk equalised three minutes later through an own goal by Scott McKenna. Sanyang then swung the match in the hosts’ favour in the second half, enabling his team to win the derby.
Having joined Hajduk Split in July 2024 after his spell at Grenoble Foot 38, the Gambia international continues his career in the Croatian league. With this goal, his record would now stand at 72 appearances and 9 goals for the club, figures that remain to be confirmed by an updated official source.
At international level, Sanyang featured in Gambia’s two matches during the September 2026 international break, as part of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Gambians beat Somalia (2-1) on September 25, then Ghana (4-2) on September 29. The winger did not score in either match.
