Croatia: New twist for Luka Modrić
While he was seriously considering retiring from international football, Luka Modrić is now reportedly rethinking his decision after the appointment of Slaven Bilić.
Slaven Bilić’s return at the helm of Croatia has clearly changed the situation for Luka Modrić. The 40-year-old midfielder, who seemed on the verge of ending his international career, is now contemplating continuing with the Vatreni, buoyed by the trust he shares with his former coach.

The two men have known each other for years, having already worked together during Bilić’s first spell as Croatia’s head coach. Still close according to AS, they've kept in regular contact throughout the coach’s various European ventures.
“Modrić is much more than our best player. I don't want to talk about it now. Speaking with him will be my first task. We'll see, the decision is his. I have a plan that I'll present to him. I absolutely want him to stay with the national team. Why would Luka leave?” Bilić revealed.
