Crystal Palace 0 - 1 Manchester City: Haaland gives the Sky Blues the lead at half-time
Manchester City are provisionally maintaining their perfect start to the season. After winning their opening Premier League game, the champions lead at half-time away to Crystal Palace.
Playing at Selhurst Park on Matchday 2 of the Premier League, Manchester City quickly imposed their control. Enzo Maresca’s side have dominated possession and were rewarded through Erling Haaland. After a superb cross from Antoine Semenyo on the left, the Norwegian rose highest and headed the ball beyond Dean Henderson to make it 1-0.
City in control, but Palace still dangerous
The Sky Blues have largely dictated the tempo of the first half, circulating the ball well and forcing Crystal Palace to defend deep. Haaland once again showed his efficiency in the box by converting one of City’s clearest chances.
City, however, are still vulnerable to Palace’s quick transitions. The Eagles have had several opportunities to exploit the spaces left by the visitors, but their decision-making in the final third has let them down. At the break, Manchester City have done the essential by taking a narrow lead, although the game remains far from over.
