Crystal Palace negotiate an extension with Ismaïla Sarr

Ismaïla Sarr could ultimately extend his spell at Crystal Palace. While Liverpool had tried to sign the Senegal international during the last transfer window, the London club has now opened talks with his representatives over a contract extension.

Talks described as positive

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace is currently in talks with Ismaïla Sarr’s representatives regarding a new contract. The discussions have been described as positive and cordial, although no agreement is yet close. The 28-year-old winger is currently under contract with the Eagles until 2029. His situation had nevertheless been the subject of considerable speculation during the summer.

Liverpool had notably contacted Crystal Palace in an attempt to sign the Senegal international. The English club was then looking to strengthen its attacking department and had identified Sarr as one of its options.

Liverpool had tried its luck

The Reds had even submitted an offer for the player, but it failed to convince Crystal Palace. The London club’s chairman, Steve Parish, had explained that Liverpool’s offer was insufficient in light of the market and that no further proposal had subsequently arrived. Sky Sports had also reported that Palace had no intention of selling Sarr at that time.

Having joined Crystal Palace from Marseille in the summer of 2024, Ismaïla Sarr quickly became an important player for the London club. Last season, he scored 21 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions, according to data provided by the source. Since joining Palace, his record stands at 33 goals and 10 assists in 94 appearances. With Senegal, Sarr also has 87 caps and 23 goals.
