Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has publicly warned Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush that he must rapidly elevate his performance levels, following two consecutive goalless appearances since his loan move from Manchester City.

Frustrations at Forest

Tottenham's recent Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest left their Italian manager visibly frustrated by the team's lack of cutting edge.

De Zerbi was particularly critical of the squad's poor decision-making and lack of effectiveness in the final third, singling out his new Egyptian striker who started his second consecutive match without finding the back of the net.

Marmoush who joined Spurs on loan from Manchester City with an option to buy after seeing his minutes limited under Pep Guardiola, is now facing immediate pressure to justify his starting role.

The 15 goal challenge

Speaking to the media after the match, De Zerbi did not hold back in his assessment of the 27 year old forward laying down a direct challenge for the remainder of the campaign.

"I spoke about Marmoush, but for him, we have to analyze whether he can score 15 or 12 goals or not.. I think the answer is yes, because he has all the potential required to score that number of goals. He must improve, of course" De Zerbi stated.

Tel also in the firing line

Marmoush was not the only player to face the manager's public scrutiny. De Zerbi also specifically targeted 21 year old French winger Mathys Tel for his failure to capitalize on dangerous attacking situations.

De Zerbi is renowned for his highly demanding, perfectionist nature, and publicly calling out a new signing like Marmoush is a classic high-risk, high-reward motivational tactic.

Marmoush undoubtedly possesses the explosive pace and technical ability to thrive in De Zerbi's vertically aggressive system but adapting to these highly structured attacking patterns takes time.

By setting a public target of 12 to 15 goals, De Zerbi is making it clear that potential alone is not enough, he expects immediate, tangible end-product. With players like Mykhailo Mudryk waiting in the wings, the margin for error in the Tottenham frontline has vanished.
