Democratic Republic of the Congo: Maniema Union qualifies for CAF Confederation Cup

The 2025-2026 season of the Congo Premier League (Ligue 1 Linafoot) wrapped up this Saturday. Maniema Union fell 1-3 to AS Simba, but will feature in continental competitions next season.

Having already secured a continental spot after their 1-1 draw with Eagles du Congo on matchday 13, the Kindo club clinched their qualification. The 2-1 loss to AS Simba shut the door on their CAF Champions League hopes. As a result, Maniema Union will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The team's journey in the final stages got off to a rocky start. A disastrous opening raised alarms throughout Kindo. But under the guidance of Lassina Koné, the squad regrouped as the rounds progressed. With grit and determination, they climbed onto the podium thanks to brilliant wins—1-0 over Don Bosco, 2-1 against champions TP Mazembe, and also 2-1 over AS Vita Club.
