Denis Bouanga: The Gabonese striker praises Thierry Mouyouma

Gabon has emerged from the shadows into the light over the past few months. The Panthers owe this revival to their coach, Thierry Mouyouma. Taking charge of the national team in October 2023 during the CAN 2025 qualifiers, the 50-year-old technician has managed to restore the glory of a team already in decline. He successfully convinced stars like Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Bouanga to return to the national squad.

Thierry Mouyouma has pulled off a masterstroke, as these two players greatly contributed to Gabon's qualification for the upcoming CAN 2025 in Morocco. They are still on his list to play the 5th and 6th matchdays of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. About a year and a half after working with Mouyouma, Bouanga is very impressed by his working method:

He is very attentive to his players. He has his own principles and ideas, which he implements. On the field, we also have our say, but at least he offers us a clear vision. It’s up to us to put it into practice. It works well. He listens to the players and regularly consults the key figures of the team to understand their feelings. This undoubtedly contributes to our current success and qualification.
