Denmark: Kasper Dolberg leaves the national team after a knee injury

Kasper Dolberg will not take part in the next Denmark camp. The Ajax striker injured his knee during training on Tuesday and has left the squad, the Danish Football Association announced.

The federation indicated that this injury could keep Dolberg out of action « for a long period ». Bad news for the 28-year-old striker, who had just been recalled to the national team after around a year away and had hoped to use this camp to reclaim the Danish shirt.

A convincing start to the season with Ajax

Dolberg joined the camp with encouraging statistics. Since the start of the season, he has scored three goals and provided three assists in nine appearances for Ajax. His performances had enabled him to establish himself in the club's starting XI, notably ahead of Marcos Leonardo in the attacking pecking order.

His withdrawal therefore comes just as he had regained an important role at club level and was due to return to the national team.

Daramy called up as reinforcement

To replace Dolberg, Denmark head coach Brian Riemer has called up Mohammed Daramy. The winger joins the squad for the upcoming international fixtures.

Denmark will also have to do without Alexander Bah. The Benfica defender withdrew due to a shoulder injury. He will be replaced by Ajax player Anton Gaaei, who has been recalled to the national team after his last international appearance in June 2025.

Dolberg's withdrawal therefore deprives Denmark of an attacking option at a time when the striker had hoped to mark his return to the Danish Dynamites.
