DR Congo: Essende replaces Idumbo for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers
The Leopards of DR Congo will enter the September international break with a reshuffled squad. Injured, Noah Mbamba and Stanis Idumbo are unavailable.
Essende joins the main squad
Initially included in the second squad list for the friendly matches against Uganda, Samuel Essende moves into the first group. The 28-year-old striker replaces Stanis Idumbo for the first two rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers, scheduled for September 24 and 28 against Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe. The news was announced this Friday, September 18, by Sébastien Desabre during a press conference held at the FECOFA headquarters.
A rewarded start to the season
This promotion follows Samuel Essende's performances at club level. The Young Boys striker has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 9 matches since the start of the season.
