Drew Fernández, the La Masia revelation who has won over Flick!

In just a few minutes, the young Pedro Fernández Sarmiento, better known as Drew, made a striking impression during his first appearance with FC Barcelona's senior team.

Coming on in the 79th minute to replace Marcus Rashford, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder scored a sensational goal in the 88th minute — a powerful strike from outside the box against Japanese side Vissel Kobe, during Barcelona's Asian pre-season tour for the 2025-2026 campaign.

This brilliant performance did not go unnoticed by Barça manager Hansi Flick, who spoke after the match:

"Drew trained with us at the end of last season. He’s a gifted player with immense potential. I want to congratulate La Masia for the outstanding work they’re doing."

A product of Barcelona’s famed academy, Drew extended his contract in July 2024 through to 2027, but with interest in him growing across Europe, the club’s management is already considering an improved deal — both in terms of length and salary.
