Elias Mokwana attracts Algerian interest
Exclusive
Foot Africa can confirm that Algerian giants JS Kabylie have registered concrete interest in Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 26-year-old has somewhat had a downward spiral in his career since moving to Tunisian heavyweights Esperance de Tunis from Sekhukhune United in July 2024.
He spent the 2025/26 campaign on a season-long loan at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem, who opted against triggering the buy option in the loan deal.
Mokwana made a total of 26 appearances across all competitions for the Saudi side last season, chipping in with a solitary goal and three assists in the oil rich kingdom.
Now, this publication has it on good authority that JS Kabylie have expressed their willingness to facilitate a deal that would see Mokwana ply his trade in Algeria.
JSK have tabled a lucrative bid for the South Africa international, and it's understood that Esperance are open to parting ways with the player.
Notably, Al-Hazem have the first option to buy the explosive attacker, who has also drawn interest from the Iraq Stars League and the Kuwait Premier League.
The player will be eagerly looking to secure a move that will rejuvenate his career after being left out of the Bafana Bafana 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
Whether Mokwana secures a move to the 14-time Algerian champions, who want to return to the prestigious CAF Champions League remains to be seen.
