Essam El Hadary Warns of Egypt’s Tough AFCON 2025 Challenge in Morocco
Former Egypt goalkeeper coach Essam El Hadary's expressed concerns over the Pharaohs chances of winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON emphasizing the difficulty of competing in Morocco.
Morocco’s Home Advantage
Speaking on ON Sport, El Hadary stated:
“Playing in Morocco makes it even harder because their national team will fight to win the title at home”
He acknowledged Egypt’s prestigious history as the most successful team in AFCON history but insisted that the team must prepare at the highest level to reclaim the title.
Call for Unity and Strong Preparation
El Hadary emphasized the need for unity among Egyptian fans and media, calling for end to club rivalries between Al Ahly & Zamalek in support of the national team.
“I fully support my country’s team and head coach Hossam Hassan but if mistakes occur, they must be discussed in the media” he added.
Federation’s Role & Friendly Matches
El Hadary also stressed that Egyptian FA president Hany Abou Rida will provide full support to the team and called for high level friendlies against top African sides like Morocco & Algeria to strengthen the squad ahead of the tournament.
