Fadlu Davids off to a winning start at Raja Casablanca

Fadlu Davids began his tenure as Raja Club Athletic head coach with a 2-0 win over Difaa El Jadida in the Botola Pro League on Sunday.

Marouane Lemzaouri put the ball in his own net to hand Raja the lead in the 16th minute, before striker Ismail Khafi doubled the lead in the 70th minute.

The Moroccan giants moved to the summit of the Botola Pro table with seven points accumulated from the first three league outings.

Davids and his troops will return to league action with a clash against Pablo Franco Martin’s MAS Fes in Casablanca on Friday, 03 October.

Meanwhile, the South African mentor will be keen to maintain momentum and guide Raja to a successful season in his second spell at the club.

He previously served as an assistant coach to Josef Zinnbauer as the Green Eagles clinched an invisible Botola Pro League title and the Throne Cup in the 2023/24 campaign.

In the wake of Raja’s offer, Davids swiftly parted ways with Tanzanian giants Simba SC for a fresh challenge in North Africa.

The former Orlando Pirates co-coach replaced Tunisian tactician Lassaad Chabbi, who was axed two games into the ongoing season.
