FC Barcelona: Anthony Gordon believes PSG are too strong
On Tuesday evening, FC Barcelona could not envisage winning against Paris Saint-Germain (4-2) in the Champions League.
After the match, Anthony Gordon described it as a “deserved” victory for Luis Enrique’s men.
“I think we could have expected a game full of goals, a great spectacle for the spectators, but I was hoping that we would step onto the pitch and show the best of ourselves. Unfortunately, we never did. They deserved the victory. They were the best team on the pitch: they had better spells and showed more quality. (...) I felt that, physically, they were able to withstand the pressure and intensity for longer than we were. They have been the team to beat for the past two years, and tonight we saw why,” the Blaugrana winger told TNT Sports.
Flick downplays the defeat
At a press conference, Blaugrana coach Hans-Dieter Flick played down the importance of this first defeat of the season. “It was a very good test. We saw mistakes that we need to correct. We have to do things better. I must not make excuses: mistakes happen because we were sometimes lacking in vigilance. The players showed a very good attitude with and without the ball, we applied a high press, there were some very good things, but we must learn from this match. The Champions League is won in June, not October. We still want to improve,” the German explained.
FC Barcelona will have to respond against Real Madrid on Sunday in La Liga.
