The Georgian international sent an emotional message to his supporters via his « Instagram » account, in which he wrote:
“Why me? I was not ready for this.
Many people have asked me questions about this setback, and many have said that if all the footballers in the world had prayed, the match would have ended in a draw. That may be true, but before every match I play, I ask God to let me leave the pitch safe and sound, but in vain.
“It hasn’t been long since it happened, but this question continues to preoccupy me: why me, specifically? I neglected nothing and I have probably never prepared as much for a match as I did this time.
I thought I was ready for anything, but that was not the case. I now understand that God chose me and, if I spared players on another pitch this pain, I am ready to go through these months of work, pain and tears.
I know that I have to come back stronger for my people, who continue to support me. I will not let you down, and I promise you that I will not waste a single second.
Thank you all for your support, and see you soon.”
