FC Barcelona has set aside the pursuit of Harry Kane and made Julián Álvarez their top priority to find a successor to Robert Lewandowski this summer.

Since Robert Lewandowski's departure, FC Barcelona has been actively searching for a new center-forward to bolster its attacking line. While Harry Kane's profile was seriously considered internally in recent weeks, this option has now been ruled out, according to Marca.

Álvarez, the number one target despite Atlético's resistance

Sporting director Deco has made Julián Álvarez his absolute priority. However, the deal is far from straightforward: Atlético Madrid currently has no intention of letting go of their Argentine striker. Nevertheless, the Catalan board remains hopeful and plans to reopen talks as soon as the World Cup ends, convinced that an opportunity could eventually arise.

At the same time, the club is already preparing a plan B should this primary target fail. Several internal solutions are being considered:

  • Redistribute attacking responsibilities among Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal
  • Return to the transfer market, although the Kane option now seems difficult to reactivate

As a result, a move for the England international looks unlikely. Bayern Munich does not want to part with their striker, who has had a phenomenal season with 60 goals in all competitions, and would only consider a departure if the player himself were to request it—a scenario that does not seem likely at this stage.
