FC Barcelona: Joan Laporta ignites the Julián Álvarez saga

Joan Laporta has publicly confirmed FC Barcelona’s interest in and offer for Julián Álvarez, sparking immediate outrage from Atlético Madrid.

FC Barcelona is no longer hiding its intentions regarding Julián Álvarez. Joan Laporta has confirmed that he approved an offer submitted to Miguel Ángel Gil.

“We remain very interested in Julián Álvarez. We hope our offer will be accepted,” declared the Blaugrana president.

This announcement comes amid high tension. Eager to make the move to Barcelona, the Argentine missed team training on Wednesday after, according to his club, having “a bad night.” Previously, he had been booed and insulted by sections of the Madrid crowd during the match against Villarreal.

Atlético categorically rules out a sale to Barça

Laporta’s comments have deeply irritated Atlético Madrid. Madrid sources insist there is “zero percent chance” of selling Álvarez to Barça. “This is not a matter of money, it’s a matter of dignity,” they stated, also denouncing what they called a campaign of lies and half-truths.

Atlético would prefer to transfer their striker to the Premier League rather than strengthen a direct rival. Arsenal remains attentive, but the Spanish club is reportedly demanding around €150 million. At the same time, the Madrid board says it wants to protect Álvarez and is very concerned about his mental state after several weeks of tension and media scrutiny.
