FC Barcelona: Lamine Yamal's strong statement about his mother
FC Barcelona: Lamine Yamal's strong statement about his mother

Having become a global star at just 19, Lamine Yamal has reflected on how far he has come since his childhood in Rocafonda.

The FC Barcelona winger spoke in an interview with the Resonancia de Corazón podcast, as reported by Sport. It gave Lamine Yamal the opportunity to open up about his mother, Sheila Ebana, and the financial difficulties his family experienced. Now able to provide financial security for his loved ones, the Spain international decided to buy his mother a house, leaving the choice of location entirely up to her.

“I bought my mother a house wherever she chose. I asked her which area she wanted to live in and told her: ‘wherever you want,’” he said, before recalling much more modest living conditions: “I came from an apartment where the kitchen and the bedroom were in the same place.”

He added: “I see my mother happy, I see that my brother can have the childhood I would have wanted, and that is what makes me happiest.” Lamine Yamal also explained that he had been able to provide greater peace of mind for his father and grandmother, while reserving particularly heartfelt words for the woman who had supported him throughout his childhood: “My mother has everything she wants. To me, she’s my queen; she’s the person I love the most. She’s everything a child could ask for.”
