FIFA: two new complaints against Gianni Infantino
This Tuesday, the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) filed two new complaints with FIFA. They notably concern the governance of Gianni Infantino.
The first asks FIFA’s Ethics Committee to examine the conduct of the FIFA president and other officials regarding potential violations of the ethics code. The second refers the matter to the Audit and Compliance Committee. The aim is to verify whether FIFA’s governance rules, financial and internal controls, as well as its decision-making processes, have been properly respected.
The Norwegian federation and its president, Lise Klaveness, are targeting three separate cases involving Infantino: the awarding of the Peace Prize to Donald Trump last December, the lifting of Folarin Balogun’s suspension during the 2026 World Cup, and the FIFA Forward Enterprise project. For the Norwegian Federation, these three cases illustrate the same problem: “an abuse of FIFA’s powers and influence.”
