🔴 Flash: Portuguese federation sanctions Cristiano Ronaldo (official)
The Portuguese Football Federation has decided to sanction national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo with a 30-day suspension, along with a fine of just €255.
The decision follows his departure from the national team’s accommodation in Denmark without obtaining official authorization.
The sanction comes after the investigation into the incident was concluded. The incident was linked to a dispute over the role of Portugal’s captain and his playing time with the team.
Ronaldo suggests a punishment for himself after apologizing
The “Madeira missile” had apologized to his teammates and supporters, saying that he took responsibility and accepted the disciplinary sanction.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo himself reportedly proposed that he be punished after apologizing, in a move that reflects his acceptance of the consequences of what happened.
The Al-Nassr star should therefore be able to join the next November camp ahead of the UEFA Nations League, if the coaching staff led by Jorge Jesus decides to call him up.
