A devastating on-pitch incident

The heartbreaking event unfolded during a friendly fixture between Real Sport Clube & Estrela da Amadora. Just 10 minutes after the opening whistle, Castro collapsed on the pitch.

Medical personnel from both clubs rushed to the field immediately, launching desperate resuscitation efforts in an attempt to revive his heart.

Despite their rapid response and subsequent urgent transfer to a nearby hospital, the young footballer tragically breathed his last shortly after arrival.

Career in England & Return Home

Castro had spent a significant portion of his developing career navigating the highly competitive English football pyramid before returning to his native Portugal this summer.

His professional journey included:

  • A notable spell developing within the youth setup at West Bromwich Albion
  • High profile trial periods with London giants Chelsea and Arsenal
  • A summer transfer to Real Sport Clube to reignite his career in Portugal
