Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom closing in on new club

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Indonesian Super League outfit Borneo Samarinda on a free transfer.

This comes after the 26-year-old anchor man was released by Vietnamese V.League 1 side Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC in May, with the same fate ultimately falling on Percy Tau.

He was released without making a single appearance for the club, owing to a long-term injury he sustained upon putting pen to paper on a free transfer in July 2025.

Notably, before joining Nam Dinh, Blom returned to his boyhood club Chiefs on a season-long loan from Major League Soccer (MLS) team St.Louis City.

The utility player lifted the Nedbank Cup with the Soweto giants during his loan spell at Naturena in the 2024/25 season under then-head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Now, Blom looks set to return to Asia, where he will embark on a new journey with Borneo Samarinda, according to whispers echoing in Indonesia.

His new employers finished as runners-up in the league last season, losing the championship to Persib Bandung by virtue of head-to-head record as both teams accumulated 79 points.

Whether Blom will rediscover the form that once saw him tipped for an influential role in the heart of the Bafana Bafana midfield remains to be seen next season.
