Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 37.

The former Bafana international signed for Babina Noko on a free transfer in July 2022 after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Orlando Pirates.

Mntambo racked up 59 appearances across all competitions at Sekhukhune, scoring 13 goals while setting-up his teammates on eight occasions.

However, the player had been plagued by injuries in the past few seasons, including the 2025/26 campaign where he played four games in all competitions.

He also turned out for Jomo Cosmos and Chippa United, taking his tally to over 150 matches played throughout his career.

The veteran attacking midfielder lifted the MTN8 with Pirates under the guidance of German mentor Josef Zinnbauer in the 2020/21 season.

On the international scene, he has one Bafana cap under his belt as he made his senior national team debut back in 2017.

Now, Mntambo looks poised to venture into a new chapter as a football analyst, having made several guest appearances on SABC.
