Former sporting director of La Roja slams Brahim Diaz
The former sporting director of the Spanish national football team, Albert Luque,
in a recent interview, did not hold back against Brahim Diaz, who turned his back on La Roja to wear the colors of Morocco's Atlas Lions.
Albert Luque has not yet come to terms with Brahim Diaz's decision regarding his sporting nationality. Invited to a program on Cadena Ser, the former sporting director of the Spanish Football Federation reviewed the entire scenario surrounding this matter. To say the least, he still holds a grudge against the Real Madrid midfielder. In his statements, he took a jab at Brahim Diaz by referencing Spain's achievement at Euro 2024.
"I think it hurt him (Brahim Diaz) more not being able to win the Euro with us. It's not the same playing against Italy as it is against Kenya," he stated. These remarks are likely to stir controversy, especially in Morocco, where Brahim Diaz has become a beloved figure among the Atlas Lions' supporters. To recall, Brahim Diaz was born and raised in Spain. The 25-year-old played for almost all age-category teams of La Roja and even participated in a senior match before deciding to play for his country of origin.
