French Cup: PSG advances to the final
The dream was possible, but it lasted only one half. Dunkerque, a Ligue 2 team, nearly caused an upset in the French Cup by leading 2-0 against Paris Saint-Germain. However, the Parisian machine awoke and eventually secured a 4-2 victory, punching their ticket to the final.
The scenario had all the makings of a fairy tale. Vincent Sasso, with a header from a set piece, and then Muhannad Al-Saad, after a brilliant individual effort, gave Dunkerque an unexpected lead. But just before the break, Ousmane Dembélé pulled one back, and the illusion gradually faded.
Right after the restart, Marquinhos leveled the score before young Désiré Doué completed the comeback. Dembélé, the man of the match, added a fourth goal in stoppage time, sealing PSG's victory.
On the road to another national triumph, Paris is now aiming for a historic treble with Ligue 1 and the Champions League still in their sights. But for now, they must defeat the winner of Reims-Caen to lift another French Cup.
